4. COMMON MISTAES ON USING COLD PRESSED JUICE.
Here are some common mistakes made by beginners in cold pressed juicing.
Not pressing the plunger far enough down When you press the plunger, be sure to press it all the way down to get out as much juice as possible; otherwise, not all of your ingredients will be used up and wasted!
Trying to make too many different recipes at once Of course it’s great that you want to try out new recipes every day, but if you’re trying 3-5 different ones at once, chances are you won’t finish them before they expire; these juices usually last only 48 hours because all the nutrients start breaking down after this time.
Stick with 1 recipe per day until you become comfortable with your cold pressed juicer and know how it works.
Not using enough ice cubes to make smoothies sometimes people use only a few cubes and they wonder why their drink isn’t very cold or it’s not thick enough; add ice until the consistency is what you like- usually about 6-8 cubes for average sized serving of 16 oz (or 8 cubes for 8 oz).
Of course, if you like your drinks on the warmer side, don’t add as much! You can also try adding frozen berries or bananas to make it colder without having to use as much ice.
Pushing leaves down The first time I tried using kale in my juicer, I didn’t realize that you need to push leaves down with other veggies because they are inserted right after the auger. So, a hard piece of produce is usually all it takes to push down whatever is below it. If you don’t push your leaves down with other veggies or fruits, they will come out as a mushy puree- yuck!
Not removing seeds Some people don’t care if they juice seeds because they say that most of the nutrients are in the pulp and not at all in seeds; this may be true but I’m sure there’s some nutrition in them so I remove them anyway.
It seems like every time I use my juicer without cleaning after each recipe, things get jammed up and certain pieces need to be taken apart and cleaned before using again (you know what I mean). The biggest problem is with seeds, which usually come out as a hard piece that gets stuck in the auger.
So for me, this makes it not worth it to juice them! I know some people love their wheatgrass shots and all… but I’m not a big fan of those bitter earthy flavors.
Not cleaning immediately after juicing If you wait until later to clean your juicer, things will dry up and stick around the mesh filter and blades; this is what causes clogging and makes your juicer harder to clean.
So try to clean immediately after juicing or at least within an hour of using it- just take a water bottle and spray down the machine while pressing produce through so gunk comes off and doesn’t get too hard.
Using too much water If you add only half the amount of water your recipe calls for and add more if needed later, it takes less time to start juicing; otherwise, when you put in 2 cups of water at the beginning and juice for 5 minutes, there’s not enough left when it starts juicing, which causes clogging and problems with your machine.
So start with 1/2 cup and see how that works before adding anything else that will make it harder to use; sometimes I end up using even less than 1/2 cup but this depends on what I’m juicing- big batches of juicy stuff usually need more water while leafy greens don’t so much!
Not checking pulp consistency before starting Sometimes I will get started before checking the pulp consistency and it ends up being too dry; this usually happens when I use wheatgrass or some other super leafy ingredient.
If you know that your ingredients are pretty wet, like cucumber for example, then there is no need to check how wet they are before starting- otherwise, just add water if needed (another 1/4 cup) until it’s juicing well without clogging every 2 minutes.
Expecting cold pressed juice to taste exactly like store bought ones It’s hard to compare fresh cold pressed juice with the kind in bottles because most of them contain an added sweetener for flavor- so when you drink our homemade type, it may have a very faint sweetness but not as much as what you’re used to.
I’m not saying that it isn’t possible to make juice with a stronger flavor, I just want everyone to know that if your first juice from our juicer tastes really mild, it doesn’t mean the other ones will too.
The reason why juices taste different is because of many factors including ingredients and how long they were stored before being made into a drink- so don’t expect all fresh cold pressed juices to have the same flavor- this way, you can try several recipes until you find one(s) that suit your taste!

6. HOW MUCH JUICE SHOULD WE DRIN PER DAY?

I think there’s no right answer to this question because it all depends on your physical needs and what you’re trying to achieve by drinking juice; if anything, we can agree that we should always aim for freshly prepared instead of bottled so we know our bodies are getting the best quality.

Basic Juice Recipe (5 servings):
3 medium carrots, unpeeled 3 stalks celery 1 cucumber 1 apple, unpeeled if organic 1 lemon, peeled
If your juicer has “reverse” option, start with this setting to push all veggies down. If not, just turn it on and let juice run out for 30 seconds or so before adding more ingredients. You can also use a blender for this recipe by chopping vegetables into small chunks first and then processing them in batches until they become liquefied; pour each batch into a large pitcher and stir well before serving over ice cubes.
This is another juice that tastes amazing, it almost has a creamy texture because of the coconut water- my husband loves this one during the summer but he also drinks it year round! If your blender doesn’t work well with nuts, just skip the almonds because cashews alone produce an incredibly tasty drink.
Cashew Milk Recipe (6 servings): 1 litre of unsweetened cashew milk (you can also use almonds) 1/2 cup of raw almonds 1 thumb ginger (the same amount if you’re using fresh instead of ground) 1 vanilla pod.
Wash all ingredients before putting them into your blender. Pour in cashew milk and start blending until mixture becomes smooth; add more liquid if needed to reach desired consistency. I like to keep my cashew milk in the fridge for up to 3-4 days, but it will stay fresh longer if you freeze it.

Answer: Yes, but don’t expect miracles to happen overnight because just like your body needs time to get rid of toxins, it also takes time for your skin to adjust!
